Character in Action Awards Report
The Character Abbotsford Council presented 3 awards on Thursday, May 7th, 2026.
Adult recipients this year were Cindy Tobar and Greg Reinhart and the youth award was shared by best friends Gursheen Dhaliwal and Aasleen Nijjar. Presentations were made at The Hub at Wiebe Properties located in central Abbotsford.
Tobar was nominated for her service with the Abbotsford Hospice and Grief Support Society where she is appreciated for being “an exceptional young woman whose compassion and dedication uplift the entire community.” Tobar also serves as a youth leader at Abbotsford Pentecostal Church where she is “an exceptional young leader that all the youth look up to.”
Reinhart is the owner of Replay Board Shop, where he has “built far more than a retail space, he has created a welcoming hub for skaters, snowboarders, and families.” He is heralded as someone whose leadership style that is authentic, generous, and genuinely loving for those he serves.
Dhaliwal and Nijjar are respected as “outstanding youth leaders who consistently go above and beyond in their commitment to serving our community.” The young leaders “actively seek opportunities to contribute wherever they can and represent youth voices with confidence and humility.”
Character Abbotsford believes that these unsung heroes of good character in action are representative of the tens of thousands of individuals who do so much to make Abbotsford a wonderful place to live, work, and serve.
Each recipient received a Character Abbotsford pin and a $500 gift card.
