We are thrilled to welcome Dr. James Mandigo to the Character Council!

Bio

Dr. James Mandigo began his role as President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of the Fraser Valley on July 1, 2025, bringing over 25 years of experience in post-secondary education. Known for his commitment to student success and community partnership, he believes strongly in the role of universities in supporting the social and economic well-being of the regions they serve.

Before becoming President, Dr. Mandigo served as UFV’s Provost and Vice-President, Academic, and held senior academic roles at Brock University. Throughout his career, he has focused on creating inclusive, student-centred learning environments and building collaborative initiatives across sectors and borders.

Internationally recognized for his research on physical literacy and sport for social development, Dr. Mandigo has worked with organizations such as the International Olympic Committee and Right to Play. He is passionate about education as a tool for personal and community transformation and is deeply committed to regional engagement.
